The deadline for submission of income tax return has been extended till December 31.
NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem disclosed this matter while talking to journalists at a briefing in his office today.The decision of extension was taken following demands from various quarters as majority of taxpayers could not yet file their income statements amid coronavirus infections and disruption in the collection of documents and preparing them.
Media report revealed that some 15 lakh of the holders of 50 lakh taxpayer identification numbers (TIN) had filed the returns of their income so far.
It was reported earlier that the income tax return submission deadline will end today (Monday) as per the decision of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
In a press briefing on Sunday, NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem said the last date for filing income tax returns is November 30.
