Chumki resumes acting through stage drama

Farzana Chumki is one of the popular small screen actresses of the country. She has won the hearts of millions by her fabulous acting style. The versatile actress has been absent from small screen since March due to coronavirus outbreak. Recently, the actress has returned to acting through a stage play after an eight-month long hiatus.
She acted in the stage play ‘Ekti Loukik Athoba Aloukik Steamer’ on October 30. Popular theatre troupe Dhaka Theatre staged the drama at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Directed by Shahiduzzaman Selim, Chumki has played the role of Monomita in the drama.
Chumki said, “I wanted to back to acting next year. But the character Monomita is amazing. That’s why I have acted in this play. Though, the play was written a long time ago, but it is totally related to the current situation. We have got huge response for the drama from the audience.”
“The play will be staged again on 20 and 21 November at Shilpakala Academy, the actress informed.
Chumki has also worked in the upcoming movie ‘Paap Punno’, directed by Giasuddin Selim. This will be her acting debut on the big screen.
Farzana Chumki is popular face of the television drama. After becoming the first runner up in Lux Anandadhara in 1999, Chumki made her acting debut in ‘Jibon Jekhane Jemon’, directed by Wahiduzzaman Diamond. She has involved with Dhaka Theatre since 1999. Her popular stage plays are ‘Joiboti Koinyar Mon’, ‘Haat Hudai’, ‘Bon Pangsul’, ‘Prachya’ and others.
Her notable drama serials are Salauddin Lavlu’s ‘Sonar Pakhi Rupar Pakhi’, Chaynika Chowdhury’s ‘Srabon Jochanay’, Dipankar Dipon’s ‘Takkar’, Chandan Chowdhury’s ‘Lady Goyenda’ and others.
