National award-winning actor Akbar Hossain Pathan, known by his stage name Farooque, has been hospitlised with coronavirus infections on Monday night.

The actor was taken to Kurmitla General Hospital in the capital around 6:00 am on Monday.

Rumpa, nephew of the actor, confirmed the matter to media.

She said Farooq was recently returned to the country from Singapore after his treatment. But when his body suddenly deteriorated, he gave his sample for corona test. His report came back positive for the virus on Sunday.

Rumpa urged countrymen to pray for her uncle’s quick recovery.
