Padma Bridge gets the 35th span to be installed on pillars 8 and 9 at Mawa point in Louhoganj today.
With this, a total of 5,250 meters of the bridge will be visible.Engineering Department of the bridge confirmed the matter on Friday.
Sources said, the 35th span was to be installed on Friday. But, the schedule was changed due to poor navigability. The dredging work was undergoing to bring it back to the normalcy.
The 150 meters long span has to be brought from Mawa Construction Yard in Munshiganj by a floating crane ‘Tian-E’ with a capacity of 3,600 tons.
Construction of the Padma Bridge began in December 2014.
China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC) is working on the main bridge, and Sino Hydro Corporation is working on river management.
The Padma Bridge is expected to be inaugurated and opened for public in 2021.
