Institute of Public Health withdraws dress code notice for its employees

In the face of public reaction, the Institute of Public Health (IPH) withdrew a notice that instructed its Muslim employees to maintain dress code in the office.

Expressing regret, in another notice, the institute offered apology to the nation on Thursday evening for the previous order.

The notification, signed by IPH Director Dr Mohammad Abdur Rahim, termed it as "unintentional mistake" and pledged not to repeat such an incident.

Earlier, the IPH instructed its employees to follow the Islamic dress code in the office.

Meanwhile, the Health Services Division served the IPH director a show-cause notice, seeking an explanation over the latter's office order.
