Landmine kills Rohingya youth in Bandarban

A Rohingya youth was killed in a landmine blast in Rezu Amtoli area of Naikhangchari border under Bangladesh-Myanmar frontier in Bandarban district on Friday.

The deceased were identified as Md Javer, 14, son of Emdad Hossain sheltered in Ukhia Kutupalang Rohingya camp-1.

Confirming the news Delowar Hossain, inspector of Ghumdhum police outpost, said police and 34 BGB members recovered the body from the scene on Saturday morning and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

It came to know that after the Rohingya persecution in 2017, Myanmar has planted several landmines for a few kilometers along the Bangladesh border so that the Rohingyas cannot return to Myanmar.
