Sheikh Russel Int’l Shooting inaugurates

Sheikh Russel International (Online) Air Rifle Championship 2020, organised Bangladesh Shooting Sports Federation (BSSF), inaugurated at the city’s Gulshan Shooting Complex on Saturday. 

BSSF arranged the meet to celebrate the 56th birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel, the youngest child of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and brother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell MP inaugurated the meet as chief guest while National Sports Council (NSC) secretary Md Masood Karim and BKSP director general Brigadier General Md Rashidul Hasan were special guests there. BSSF president Major General Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan, general secretary Intekhabul Hamid Opu and other members, officials were also present there.

A total of seven Asian nations including the hosts Bangladesh, Japan, India, Bhutan, Pakistan, Korea and Indonesia will take part in the meet. Two-time Commonwealth silver medalists Abdullah Hel Baki and Sayeda Atkia Hasan Disha will represent Bangladesh here. The top three shooters will be awarded by USD 3000, USD 2000 and USD 1000 respectively. The matches will be held today at 2:00pm.
