Jamila Alim, wife of reputed folk singer late Abdul Alim, died at a hospital of the capital early Tuesday. She was 83.

She breathed her last at the private hospital of City’s Banasree around 2:25 while undergoing treatment.

Singer Nurjahan Alim, daughter of the deceased, confirmed the matter to media this morning.

Jamila Alim has been suffering from old age complications for a long and she was admitted to the hospital in mid-June after suffering a brain stroke.

Legendary singer Abdul Alim died on 5 September 1947 at the age of 43. Abdul Alim and Jamila Alim have seven children. Among them three children Zahir Alim, Azgar Alim and Nurjahan Alim are singers.
