BFF Election 2020:  Samannoy Parishad unveils election manifesto

The 19-member electoral panel Samannoy Parishad, jointly nominated by Bangladesh District and Divisional Football Association (BDDFA) and Bangladesh Club Association (BCA), unveiled its election manifesto at a city’s hotel on Thursday. 

The three-page manifesto, which came two days before the election, featured a total of 24 pledges. 

The election and congress of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), also known as BFF Elective Congress’2020, will be held tomorrow at the city’s Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. A total of 139 councillors will be able to exercise their franchise to form the 21-member BFF executive committee, including president, senior vice-president, four vice presidents and fifteen members.

Samannoy Parishad, who is taking part in the election against three-time BFF president Salahuddin-led Sammilita Parishad, gave no candidate for the president post. Former football star and national sports awardee Sheikh Mohammad Aslam will compete for the senior vice-president post while Additional IGP Sheikh Mohammad Maruf Hasan, BFF vice-president Mohiuddin Mohi and SM Abdullah Al Fuyad for vice-presidents posts from the panel. Besides, the panel gave 15 candidates for executive members’ posts.  

Samannoy Parishad pledged to make a long term plan of 12-year for football. They promised to regularly arrange district leagues, upazila leagues, Suhrawardy Cup, Sher-e-Bangla Cup to build a strong pipeline for national teams. The panel would arrange division and district-wise age level competitions and provide short and long term training facilities to those players under the federation.

The panel would reshape professional league, premier league, first, second and third division leagues. Also, the panel announced to arrange Sheikh Russel National Club Cup and promised to provide full support to hold Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Primary School Competition.

The panel would take initiatives to hold inter-college, inter-school, office and corporate football leagues. They would also arrange the Premier Football League with the participation of eight divisional teams. They would take initiatives to invite high standard teams for Bangabandhu Gold Cup and Sheikh Kamal Gold Cup.

Samannoy Parishad promised to build a title aspirant team for Bangabandhu Gold Cup, SAFF Championship, SA Games and Asian Games. They would make three plans of 4-year, 8-year and 12-year to improve the rankings of men and women teams. Besides, they promised to provide high profile coaching staff, health insurance for players, high standard grounds and modern gym facilities.

Apart from these, the panel made several pledges on coaches and referees education, football marketing and annual general meeting.
