National Parliament Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Wednesday stressed the need for innovation, research and technology in higher education to build digital Bangladesh.
She also laid emphasis on utilisation of science, ICT, research and innovation to move forward with the goal of an indomitable Bangladesh, said a press releaseThe speaker came up with the observation at a launching ceremony of a book ‘Adommo Bangladesh’ (Indomitable Bangladesh) written by University Grants Commission (UGC) member Professor Dr. Sazzad Hossain.
Dr. Shirin Sharmin in her speech said “We have to hold the issues related to higher education based on science-minded thought, innovation, research and technology.”
Addressing as chief guest she also said successful onward advancement and partial picture of wonderful development of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have been highlighted in the book.
UGC Chairman Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah presided over the ceremony while Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, Post and Telecommunicaitons Division Minister Mustafa Jabbar, State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Bangladesh Public Service Commission Chairman Md. Sohorab Hossain and Bangladesh Satellite Company Ltd. Chairman Dr. Shahjahan Mahmud spoke on the occasion as special guests.
National Professor Dr. Rafiqul Islam delivered speech as chief discussant while eminent literary personality Selina Hossain gave her speech as special discussant at the event.
UGC Members- Professor Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Professor Dr. Biswajit Chanda, and Professor Dr. Md. Abu Taher also spoke among others.The book contains 24 articles on Bangladesh's progress, technological advancement and future prospects. The book is dedicated to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the occasion of her birthday in the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
