Shafiqul Islam Manik, the independent presidential candidate of the upcoming Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Election 2020 launched his election manifesto at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday.
The four-page manifesto, which came three days before the election, featured a total of 21 pledges on the domestic competitions, grassroots football, salary structure and health insurance for national footballers, FIFA rankings, annual football calendar coaches and referees education.Manik pledged to regularly arrange and monitor district football, pioneer league, inter-university (private and public), inter-board, inter-college and inter-school competitions. He would form a strong committee under the federation to monitor these competitions.
Manik promised to annually arrange Under-17 Bangabandhu Cup and to resume Sheikh Jamal U-21, U-19 Suhrawardy Cup and inter-district Sher-e-Bangla Cup. He would publish a realistic and advisable annual calendar as well as regularly arrange annual general meetings.
Bangabandhu International Tournament will be included in the calendar as a biennial event and Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup as an annual event.
Manik also promised to arrange salary structures, health insurance facilities for both men and women national footballers. He vowed to improve men’s and women’s FIFA rankings. Besides, Manik promised to work on age-level competitions, referees’ committee, coaches’ education and grassroots football.
