3.5 lakh yaba tablets recovered in Cox’s Bazar

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have recovered 3.5 lakh Yaba tablets from Leda Churikhal area at Nhilla union in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s bazaar on Tuesday night.

Confirming the news, BGB 2 Commanding Officer Lt Col Md Foysal Hasan Khan said: "Being informed that a large consignment of Yaba is entering Bangladesh from Myanmar, a special patrol team of BGB took position in the area.”

As drug peddler entered the maritime boundary of Bangladesh crossing the Naf River, the patrol team challenged him, he said.

At one stage, the smuggler fled the scene after sensing their presence leaving a large shipment of Yaba tablets.

Later, the yaba tablets were recovered from the spot, he said, adding that the pills have a street value of Tk 10.5 crore.
