Rivals hack youth to death in Gazipur

A young man was hacked to death and two others were injured in an attack for rivalry in Alertek Mirashpara area under Tongi North Police Station of Gazipur on Tuesday night.

The deceased was identified as Milon, 28, hailing from the area.

The injured are identified as Salahuddin Prince, 24, son of Nekbar Ali and Titu, 25, son of Abdul Kuddus, both of them hailing from the same area.

Confirming the news, Md Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Tongi North Police Station, said that the trio locked in an altercation with another group at 11:00 pm. At one stage the rivals hacked Milon, Prince and Titu indiscriminately, leaving them injured.

Later, locals took the injured to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital where duty doctor declared Milon dead and Prince and Titu shifted them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment, he added.

The real cause of the incident could not be known yet but the matter is being investigated, he said.

A process is underway to file a case in this connection and police are trying to nab the criminals in this regard, the OC added.
