Barishal University decides to set up Bangabandhu Chair

Barishal University (BU) authority decides to set up Bangabandhu Chair at the university in the name of  Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

This decision has been taken at the meeting of the BU Syndicate held on 13 September 2020 at 4 pm said a BU press release on Sunday.

The meeting was chaired by the University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sadequl Arefin.

A four-member committee has been formed to formulate policies for the implantations of "Bangabandhu Chair" in the university.  The convener of the committee is Professor Dr.  Md.  Sadequl Arefin, Vice Chancellor, Barisal University. 

Another three members of the committee are Dr. Amitabh Sarkar, Divisional Commissioner (Additional Secretary), Barishal Division, Dr. Supravhat Haldar, Assistant Professor, department of law, Barisal University and Member-Secretary Prof. Dr.  Md.  Muhsin Uddin, Register (Additional Responsibilities) Barisal University.

Through the establishment of "Bangabandhu Chair", this initiative has been taken to promote research and academic activities related to Bangabandhu's life, work, political philosophy, liberation war and socio-economic development of Bangladesh.  The meeting expressed hope that the activities of "Bangabandhu Chair" would start in BU within the current Mujib year.  

All the members of the syndicate at the meeting sincerely thanked Prof Sadequl Arefin for this initiative and wished him continued success in this endeavor.
