Virgin Atlantic has announced it is giving all passengers free coronavirus insurance cover, automatically being applied to both existing and new bookings across its network.
The policy will include expenses up to £500,000 if a passenger or their travel companion(s) get coronavirus while on a trip, as well as expenses up to £3,000 if they are denied boarding or required to quarantine during the trip due to having (or being suspected of having) COVID-19.The new cover is valid for all travel until the 31st March 2020 and comes at no extra charge, not to mention passengers won't need to pay an excess to use it.
Other costs covered will include emergency medical costs, treatment, associated expenses such as transport and accommodation and repatriation home, if required.
The policy, fulfilled by Allianz Assistance, will also apply if you're on a Virgin Holidays break where the flights are operated by Virgin Atlantic.
The cover will apply for the entire trip, and cover all passengers no matter their age, which travel class they booked or the length of their journey.
Passengers can find out more on the Virgin Atlantic website.
The new cover comes alongside the airline's current flexible booking policy.Amidst the pandemic, passengers who have booked with the airline can make up to two date changes to their flights, with rebooking available until the 30th September 2022.
The airline is currently waiving its change fees, although it has said that "potential fare differences may be incurred if the new travel dates are after 30 November 2020".
