Eminent artist Murtaja Baseer has been admitted to a hospital in the capital early Friday.
He is now undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of the Evercare Hospital.Apart from heart problems, the 88-year-old renowned artist had been suffering from kidney and lungs complications.
Confirming the news, Munira Baseer, elder daughter of the artist, said Murtaja Baseer was admitted to the hospital at around 1:30am.
Munira Baseer sought prayers from the countrymen for his father quick recovery.
Murtaja Baseer is considered one of the foremost painters of Bangladesh. He is known for working with abstract realism. The Wings and Epitaph for the Martyrs series are among the finest works of the artist. He is the son of scholar and linguist Dr Muhammad Shahidullah.
