Rifat murder: victim's wife Minni, co-accused appear before court after five months

After a long hiatus of five months due to corona pandemic, a Barguna court has resumed trial processing in sensational Rifat Sharif murder case.

Victim’s wife and principal accused Ayesha Siddika Minni was produced before the court today (Monday).

Ten other accused Rakibul Hasan Rifat, 23, Al Kaiyum alias Rabbi Akon, 21, Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, 19, Rezwan Ali Khan Ridoy alias Tiktok Ridoy, 22, Md Hasan, 19, Md Musa, 22, Ayesha Siddika Minni, 19, Rafiul Islam Rabbi, 20, Md Sagar, 19 and Kamrul Islam Saimun, 21 were also present on the dock.

Rifat Sharif was hacked to death by miscreants in front of Barguna Government College in broad daylight on June 26 last year. His wife Ayesha Siddika Minni was nearby the attacking spot. Video clipping shows that she rescued him in a critical condition, boarded a rickshaw and headed towards hospital.  Rifat succumbed to injuries.

Later, police identified Minni’s dubious role. On September 1 of the same year, police submitted two charge sheets implicating her and others.
