A man and his grandson died after being electrocuted at Khagalia village of Bhalakut under Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as former Union Parishad member Kafil Uddin, 70 and his grandson Bayezid, 11.

Zulus Khan Pathan, sub-inspector (SI) of Nasirnagar Police Station, said that Bayezid had been missing since Sunday evening. In the morning, Kafil Uddin went to his shop in the local market and spotted his grandson lying with a live electric wire. Kafil also came in contact with the live electric wire when he came to save him and died on the spot.
