The authorities of Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday asked those whose studentships have already been expired to leave halls before opening of the university.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the provost standing committee presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, said a DU press release on Saturday night.
"Those who have no studentship, are being asked to leave the dormitories with their belongings after contacting the respective hall provosts. It's very important to make them vacate the halls to put an end to the so called 'gono room' crisis," said the release.
The meeting also discussed cleaning the infrastructures of the university, hall yards and formulating a hygiene policy as a precondition to reopening the dormitories.
