A middle-aged man committed suicide after killing his wife at Mirzapur union in Sreemangal Upazila of Moulvibazar on Saturday night.

The deceased were identified as Bikul Tanta Roy, 40 and his wife Alka Tanta Roy, 35.

The incident took place at Fari Bagan Boulachhara in Mirzapur Tea Garden.

Quoting family members, police said that Jamal Hossain hacked his wife to death with a sharp weapon and later he committed suicide by hanging himself.

Confirming the news, Abdush Saleque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shreemangal Police Station, said that the bodies were sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
