Bangladesh-origin Donna Imam to contest US polls

Bangladesh-origin Donna Imam is going to contest the general election for US House Texas District 31 on November 3

She gets the prospect following her initial victory in the Democratic ticket’s district race.

Donna takes lead with 55.08% of the vote in the Democratic primary runoff for congressional seat.

Imam received 20,884 votes, while her challenger, Christine Mann, 15,991, says Texas Secretary of State website.

Imam is a progressive candidate with a background in computer engineering.

Donna Imam, incumbent John Carter, Clark Patterson and Jeremy Bravo are set to contest the general election for US House Texas District 31 on November 3.

The Texas 31st congressional district represents Williamson County and parts of Bell County. Williamson County voter turnout was 8.55%, and Bell County voter turnout was 7.38%. Imam received 62.6% of the vote in Bell County and 54.24% in Williamson County.

However, Democrat Hansen Clarke was the first Bangladeshi-American to be elected to the US Congress in 2010.
