Dr Shafiul Alam Tarafdar, a professor of Mathematics Department in Chittagong University, died from Covid-19 infection at a hospital in Port city on Thursday night.

Shafiul Alam, 54, a resident of Chandanpura area of Chattogam city, breathed his last at Parkview Hospital around 9:45 am while undergoing treatment.

CU Proctor Professor Dr Rabiul Hassan Bhuiyan confirmed the matter to the media.

He is survived by his wife and three daughters and a host of well wishers to mourn his death.

Professor Shafiul had been undergoing treatment at the Hospital for a month after he tested positive for the virus.
