Govt decision to export rawhide falls flat as prices plummet further

The decision of the government to export rawhide of sacrificial animals did not create any impact on its trading in the retail market.

The businessmen expressed their frustration as they were unable to sell rawhide at resonable prices on the third-day of Eid-ul-Azha.

Due to price fall of rawhide in the market this year, many traders in the country were forced to dump rawhide on the road as well as into water.

As a result, market related persons concerned apprehended that 30 percent of total rawhide of animals will be not used.

Experts think that such a situation of rawhide would not have happened in the country if the government decision to export rawhide came earlier.

Mentionable, the Commerce Ministry took the decision to export rawhide of cattle on July 29.
