Quality of liquid waste in leather industrial city within standards of DoE

Industries Secretary KM Ali Azam said the standard of refined liquid waste ingredients of BSCIC Leather Industrial Estate in Savar has been found within the standards prescribed by the Department of Environment (DoE).

“The Central Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) has come full functional except CETP automation monitoring control,” he said while expressing views with journalists after inspecting the overall condition, including leather processing, waste management and safety measures in the BSIC Leather Industrial City, on Sunday.

He said necessary steps have been taken to monitor the overall condition of the industrial city through five committees to deal with the additional pressure after Eid-ul-Azha.

“Uninterrupted power and water supply has been provided round the clock, vehicles with manpower required for solid waste management have been prepared and overall security has been strengthened,” he added.

Among others, BSCIC Chairman Mohammad Mushtaq Hasan and Additional Secretary of the Industries Ministry Kazi Shawkat Hossain were present on the occasion.
