Bangladesh has registered the death of two more medical professionals from COVID-19, raising the body count among doctors to 59.
The deceased were Professor Dr Ruhul Amin, an ophthalmologist and former director of Al-Razi Hospital, and Professor Dr MA Wahab, a retired doctor of Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital's medicine department.Joint Secretary of Foundation for Doctors Safety Rights and Responsibility (FDSR) Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury confirmed the matter to media.
Dr Ruhul Amin, an eighth-batch student of Chattogram Medical College, breathed his last at around 4:00pm on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of Asgar Ali Hospital.
Dr MA Wahab, who was also the vice-president of the Bangladesh Kidney Foundation, breathed his last at 12:45 at Intensive Care Unit of Labaid Specialized Hospital in the capital.
With this, 59 doctors have died of Covid-19 in the country so far and eight more had died with coronavirus symptoms, Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury said.
