Norway will support Bangladesh to develop ‘national roadmap’ in information and communication technology (ICT) to tackle challenges in the post-pandemic situation, said ambassador Sidsel Blaken.
Connecting over an online meeting with ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Wednesday, Norwegian diplomat also appreciated the initiatives of Bangladesh to tackle coronavirus pandemic using technology.“Bangladesh has progressed in the technology sector in the last couple of years under leadership Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. And recently, the country showed excellence in combating coronavirus through deploying technological tools,” Sidsel added.
ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak said the government has formulated a long-term framework for deploying technology in education, health, agriculture, food supply to tackle the coronavirus pandemic and other crisis.
“To provide latest information about the pandemic situation, the government launched a specialised portal (corona.gov.bd) while citizens can share information through mobile app and call centre. Besides contract tracing app enables us to ensure the safety move of the citizen to keep active the economy,” Palak explained to the ambassador.
He also urged Norway to invest in Bangladesh as the country transformed into the emerging economy under leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and mentorship of ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy in last eleventh years.
