Rajshahi journalist dies with breathing problems

Tobibur Rahman Masum, chief reporter of daily Sonali Sangbad in Rajshahi, died at a hospital early Monday.

Masum, who is also the Rajshahi correspondent of Bangladesh Betar, was taken to Rajshahi Christian Mission Hospital on Sunday evening with fever and respiratory problems. Later, he was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) where on-duty doctor declared him dead.

RMCH deputy director Saiful Ferdous confirmed the matter to media.

The samples of Tobibur Rahman and his wife were collected on Friday and their test results came back negative for coronavirus on Sunday  night.

Masum was well known in the sports arena and covered the South Asian Games and the Olympic Games several times and was the president of Rajshahi's Sports Reporters' Council.
