Two Awami League (AL) leaders in Cumilla died from Covid-19 infection on Wednesday.

The deceased are Abul Bashar, 64, a finance secretary of the city's ward no-15 AL and Md Atiqur Rahman Zahangir, cultural affairs secretary of Brahmanpara upazila AL.

After tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, Abul Bashar was taken to Cumilla Medical College and Hospital at around 9:30 pm as he was feeling sick. He breathed his last there at around 10:30 pm.

Md Atiqur Rahman Zahangir breathed his last at a hospital in Dhaka Wednesday evening.

Cumilla district Awami League sources confirmed the matters to media.
