Rain, thundershower likely

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Wednesday forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind for parts of the country.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions,” the Met Office said in a bulletin.

Some places might see moderately heavy to heavy falls.

The forecast is valid until 9am Thursday.

A mild heat wave sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Pabna, Jashore and Chuadanga may continue, the Met Office said.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Tuesday’s maximum temperature was recorded by 36.5 degree Celsius at Rajshahi and lowest 19C at Nikli in Dhaka division.

Highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded by 52mm in Khulna.

The sun sets at 6:43pm today and rises at 5:11am on Thursday in the capital.
