Govt may declare general holiday again if coronavirus situation worsens!

The government may declare general holiday again if the coronavirus situation worsens across the country, some senior ministers said seeking anonymity.

They said that the government will closely observe the situation till June 15 to take the decision.

Earlier on May 31, the government reopens the offices on limited scale in the country after end of 66 days general holiday considering the suffering of people amid the coronavirus pandemic.

However, Bangladesh on Tuesday reported record 2,911 new coronavirus patients in the span of 24 hours, taking the total number of coronavirus cases to 52,445. More 37 people died from COVID-19 increasing the total deaths toll to 709.

A senior minister seeking anonymity said that they will closely observe the situation in next 15 days. If the coronavirus situation deteriorated then the government will impose strict lockdown declaring general holiday.

Agriculture minister Dr Abdur Razzak said “We have to run in an uncertain situation. We will observe the situation next 10-15 days and will take decision considering the actual condition”.
