High Court seeks probe report on United Hospital’s fire within June 14

The High Court (HC) has sought probe report in the killing incident of five patients at the corona unit of the United Hospital in Dhaka caused by fire.   

According to media report, the authorities of United Hospital, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK), Fire Service and Civil Defence and Inspector General of Police (IGP) have been asked to submit report within June 14.  

The virtual bench of High Court (HC) Justice Enayetur  Rahim on Tuesday passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyers.  

Barrister Muntasir Uddin Ahmed stood for the petitioner, while Deputy Attorney General Amit Talukder represented the state.

Earlier on May 30, Battister Niaz Muhammad Mahbub and Barrister Shahida Sultana Shila filed the writ petition.

Muntasir Uddin Ahmed said the High Court has asked the authorities of United Hospital, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK), Fire Service and Civil Defence and Inspector General of Police (IGP) to submit report of fire incident within June 14.  

Meanwhile, the Fire Service personnel recovered five bodies in the fire incident at the corona isolation unit set up outside of the United Hospital’s main building on May 27.
