Writ petition filed challenging 60pc fare hike of public transports

A writ petition has been filed with the High Court challenging the 60 percent fare hike of public transports in the country amid ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Supreme Court Lawyer Humayun Kabir Pallab filed the petition on Monday.
The defendants in the writ petition are the secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges (Road Transport and Highways Division), the chairman of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and other concerned authorities.
Till today (Monday), the total virus infections recorded was 49,534 while 672 people died of the disease after its detection on March 8.
