Former secretary M Bazlul Karim Chowdhury has died from COVID-19 at Mugda General Hospital in Dhaka.
The former bureaucrat, who tested positive with coronavirus, breathed his last at the hospital around 11:30am on Sunday, hospital sources said.The 61-year-old was admitted to Mugda General Hospital with Covid-19 infection on May 22 and later shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on May 23, as his condition deteriorated.
Bazlul's wife Nazmoon Naher Lipy, who was infected with coronavirus, is also undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
He had served as deputy commissioner of Tangail from 2009 to 2012.
Born in Rajbari district, Bazlul had served as chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) and the commissioner of Dhaka division.
