Confusion has arisen among many customers of different regions regarding the electricity bill in the present situation due to coronavirus.
In this regard, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Saturday opined that electricity bills not are not being prepared as per the meter readings of many customers in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus.Due to obligation to comply with the rules of social distancing and lockdowns in various areas in the country and considering the health grounds of the consumers as well as staff of power department, the electricity bills are being given to the consumers in keeping with the bills of the previous month or the same period of the previous year.
If the actual electricity consumption of the customer is less or more or any discrepancy is observed with the estimated bill, it will be adjusted with the bill of next month.
Under any circumstances, consumers need not to pay extra amount of money for their bills. The government has already waved the amount for delay in the electricity bills for February, March and April of this year considering the health issues of the customers due to corona outbreak. As a result, the consumners would be able to pay their electricity bills for February, March and April within June 30 without late fines.
The power department requested customers to inform the department concerned if there is any complain regarding the electricity bills. Besides, people are requested to pay their bills using bKash, booth, or mobile phones along with banks.
