Shutdown of garment factories also extended till April 25

As the government has extended general holidays until April 25 to curb coronavirus in the country, garment factory owners also decided to keep their factories shut up in line with the government's decision.

The decision was disbursed through a joint statement by Rubana Huq, president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), and AKM Salim Osman, president of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA).

The joint statement was posted on a WhatsApp message thread to a group of journalists by the BGMEA today.

Besides educational institutions, rail, road, river and air communications have been shut down to prevent the spread of the highly contagious virus.
 
Bangladesh on Friday reported 94 new cases and six more deaths from coronavirus.
 
The total number of confirmed cases in the country is now 424 and 27 deaths were reported from coronavirus as of Friday.
 
Meanwhile, the global death toll from coronavirus reached 95,794 as of Friday.
