India has reported  6,771 cases and 228 deaths in the coronavirus till Friday.

A decision on extending the lockdown is expected to be taken any day now as India scales up its fight against the coronavirus.

The Centre has asked states to double the number of tests conducted to at least 2.5 lakh by April 14, when the 21-day lockdown ends.

Maharashtra has over one-fifth of these cases at 1,364, and 95 deaths. Tamil Nadu has 834 cases and 8 deaths. New Delhi has registered 720 cases and 12 deaths, according to the Health Ministry.
