Police Headquarters on Thursday asked all of its members to ensure their own protection alongside people's safety while performing their duties to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country.
"You’ll ensure your protection alongside securing safety of the general people," said Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police Headquarters (Media) Md Sohel Rana.
Police personnel have been on the field since the beginning of the crisis.
“We’ve been working to keep the people safe and secure,” he said, adding that in many cases police members lacked safety equipment.
The AIG said they are trying to ensure protection of police members.
He also urged the police personnel to follow health guidelines.
“If you’re not healthy and safe, it won’t be easy to provide protection to the people of the country,” AIG Rana said.
Bangladesh on Thursday reported 112 coronavirus cases and another death. So far, there have been 330 confirmed cases in the country and 21 deaths.
