A total of 35 more people have been tested positive in Bangladesh for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 123, said IEDCR in an online press briefing on Monday afternoon.
This is the biggest jump in positive tests over a 24-hour period since Bangladesh announced its first cases on March 8.However, three more people have died of coronavirus, taking the total death toll in the country to 12, IEDCR added.
Earlier on the day, Health Minister Zahid Maleque in an online media briefing said four more people died of coronavirus and confirmed 29 new cases.
The global death toll from novel coronavirus (COVID-19) reached 69,480 as of Monday.
The virus, first reported in China, has so far infected 1,274,346 people around the world, according to worldometer.
