Local TV journalist tests positive for coronavirus

A journalist of privately run TV channel ‘Independent television’ has been tested positive for the coronavirus.

Another 47 employees, who came into contact with him, have been sent to home quarantine, said a press release provided by the television channel.

The authorities concerned urges all journalists of the channel to take precautions while covering news following the government instructions through the press release. 

The journalist is currently taking treatment at the Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital.

It is reported that the journalist came down with a fever on Mar 26 while the IEDCR tested his sample on Apr 1. The results came back positive on Thursday and he subsequently was hospitalised on the same day.

Bangladesh on Friday reported five new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 61.
