Coronavirus: Cases in India rise to 908

The coronavirus (COVID-19) death toll in India climbed to 908 till Saturday.

In India, with 799 active cases, 83 patients have been recovered in the disease, worldometer reported.

Maharashtra on Saturday reported six new cases with the tally rising to 159, while Gujarat reported six new cases with the total number in the state at 53, Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare reported.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that he has been told to “prepare for a potential Stage 3 outbreak of Covid-19 in Delhi” and was, therefore, taking steps to handle the situation even if it gets to 1,000 COVID-19 cases a day.

In other news, an 85-year-old general surgeon died hours after he tested positive in Mumbai.

The primary test reports of his son, a cardiac surgeon in his late fifties, and grandson are positive. However, their confirmatory test reports are awaited.

The global death toll rose to 27,370 on Saturday, with the highest number of deaths in Italy. The number of infected people in the US alone reporting 1,00,000 on Friday. New York is still the worst-hit country in the US.
