Dhaka to ensure all-out cooperation to foreign nationals

Dhaka has reiterated its commitment to ensure all-out cooperation to foreign nationals living in Bangladesh to tackle any 'tough situation' in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

This was stated by Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen as several ambassadors and high commissioners stationed in Dhaka called on him and discuss the prevailing situation.

The foreign ministry said the high commissioners of India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and ambassadors of South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar paid separate calls on the foreign minister.

Momen inquired about their wellbeing and health situation of their respective countries nationals residing in Bangladesh.

The foreign minister said though the government closed down all offices, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will keep in constant contact with the foreign diplomats though hotlines.

The foreign envoys expressed their satisfaction over the steps taken by the Bangladesh government to combat COVID-19.

During the meetings, the foreign envoys put stress on regional cooperation to tackle the coronavirus crisis. Some envoys also sought support from Bangladesh in the fight against coronavirus in their countries.
