The Education Ministry on Sunday postponed the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations scheduled to begin on April 1 in view of the threat of the coronavirus.
Public Relations Officer of Education Ministry Mohammad Abul Khayer confirmed the news.A fresh date will be announced soon, a press release of the ministry said.
The government on March 16, closed all the educational institutions across Bangladesh till March 31, following detection of coronavirus patients in the country.
It asked the students to stay at home, maintain caution, and discouraged any student from attending coaching classes.
The HSC and its equivalent examinations were scheduled to begin across the country on April 1.
Till date 24 people have been infected with coronavirus in Bangladesh, with two deaths reported.
