The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has submitted the charge sheet against Md Mojnu, who allegedly raped and tortured a Dhaka University student on January 5.

DB Deputy Commissioner (North Division) Moshiur Rahman said the charge sheet was submitted to a court in Dhaka on Monday.

Earlier, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Forensic Unit head Sheikh Nazmul Alam confirmed a DNA test with samples from the girl and Mojnu, 30, has revealed the latter's involvement in the crime.

A second-year student of Dhaka University (DU) was raped in the city’s Kurmitola area on January 5.

Later, victims’ father filed a case with Cantonment Police Station against some unidentified persons.
