Education minister Dr Dipu Moni on Sunday said educational institutions will not be shut for now as situation over the coronavirus outbreak in the country has not deteriorated to a great extent.
However, the minister hinted that the decision of shutting educational institutions might be taken after observing the coronavirus situation of the country if it was necessary.She came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after distributing prizes among the winners of National School Hockey Tournament at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium in the capital.
Dr Dipu Moni said, “Till now, local people have not been infected with coronavirus in the country. Therefore, situation like shutting the educational institutions has not been created yet. We will take the decision on this (shutting educational institutions) if the coronavirus affects the local people.”
Meanwhile, the education ministry has not yet taken any decision to shut educational institutions due to global outbreak of coronavirus.
“If there’s any decision, everyone will be informed,” said an official release, signed by Mohammad Abul Khair, public relations officer of the ministry.
The statement of the ministry also urged all not to get confused over it.
