Noting that there is sufficient storage of insecticides for eliminating Aedes mosquitoes in the capital, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam on Thursday said the two Dhaka city corporations are well equipped with repellents and manpower to control the mosquito menace.
“There is sufficient storage of insecticides for eradicating Aedes mosquito in the areas of two Dhaka city corporations. There are also available tools and manpower for spraying the insecticides,” he told journalists replying to a query after a courtesy meeting with German Ambassador in Dhaka Peter Fahrenholtz at the Secretariat.
In line with the bitter experience in dealing with dengue last year, the minister said, the government has taken preparation from the beginning of the year to control the disease and eliminate Aedes mosquito in the city.
About quality of the insecticide, Tazul said the officials of the two city corporations have confirmed that no question will be raised over the repellents this year.
“We can’t, however, go beyond certified products so that other insects, except mosquito, do not die for spraying the medicine,” he added.
