High Court issues rule on Pirojpur judge withdrawal

The High Court has issued a rule asking why the withdrawal of a Pirojpur judge who scrapped the bail plea of a former ruling party lawmaker, shouldn’t be declared illegal.

The secretaries to the law and parliamentary affairs ministry have been asked to respond to the rule by Mar 11.

The bench of Justice Tariq ul Hakim and Justice Md Iqbal Kabir issued the rule today (Wednesday) on a suomuto (voluntary) move following newspaper reports on the law ministry's decision over the stand release of Judge Abdul Mannan.

Earlier on Tuesday (March 3), the government took a decision to stand release Prirojpur District and Sessions Judge Md Abdul Mannan, who had ordered the authorities to send former Awami League lawmaker Awal and his wife to jail in three corruption cases.
