Homecare companion service for elderly people to be launched

Care in Need Foundation and JCI Dhaka North are going to launch a homecare companion service for the elderly people in the capital.

Care in Need Foundation, a charitable organisation, signed a MoU with JCI Dhaka North, a leading network of young leaders, on Sunday to jointly provide the service.

They are going to inaugurate the homecare service for elderly people at a function to be held at Lamda Hall in Gulshan Club of the city on March 7. Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will attend the programme as the chief guest.

Talking to Daily Sun, Advocate Mubina Asaf, founder and president of Care in Need Foundation, said “Usually, elderly people have to spend time alone at home as children are busy with their personal and official works. So, we have taken a unique initiative to case away their loneliness.”

The service recipients will have to pay Tk 100-Tk 500 depending on the service daily, she said, adding a doctor may visit a house in a month to see physical condition of the elderly person there.

“Young college and university students will be engaged to provide the companion service. They will talk to the elderly people or take them to the garden or park to remove loneliness,” she added.
