An over-enthusiastic group has been trying to mislead people by spreading rumour on the novel coronavirus, officially named COVID-19, IEDCR director Professor Meerjady Sabrina Flora said on Saturday.

The director of the Institute of Epidemiology, Diseases Control and Research (IEDCR) came up with the remark at a media briefing on the latest coronavirus situation at her office in the capital Mohakhali area.

“Those, who return from China, are not infected with coronavirus disease. To return from China doesn’t necessarily mean that someone caught the viral infection. A group is trying to spread rumour about the decease. Incidents like not renting flats to China returnee people have taken place in the coutry,” she said.
