Bashundhara Group solves country’s bitumen problem: Kamal

Praising Bashundhara Group's initiative of establishing a bitumen plant under private entrepreneurship, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Saturday said that this initiative has solved our problem of getting suitable bitumen for constructing roads and highways.

The minister came up with this observation while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Bashundhara Bitumen Plant at Pangaon in Keraniganj this morning.

Terming the initiative ahead of ‘Mujib Borsho’ unique one, Mustafa Kamal said this enterprise is aligned with the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

“We have been facing problem with imported bitumen, we never got suitable bitumen that matches our weather. We tried our best but failed to find any solution to that very problem. Our roads and highways did not last long,” he said.

Mentioning that ninety percent bitumen were being imported, today Bashundhara Group offered us an opportunity to get rid from bitumen related problem. Now there is no need to import bitumen rather Bashundhara Group would export surplus bitumen to foreign countries after fulfilling country’s demand.
