Coronavirus: DGHS asks all hospitals to open 'isolation units'

In a precautionary measure to tackle the potential risk of the Coronavirus spread, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has ordered all public hospitals across the country to open ‘isolation units’ on an emergency basis in the wake of the deadly viral outbreak in China.

Professor Dr Abul Kalam Azad director general at the DGHS came up with the directive while addressing a videoconference with departmental heads and civil surgeons at its conference room in the city’s Mohakhali area on Monday.

“Isolation units will be opened at all district and Sadar level hospitals as well as medical college hospitals under the eight divisions for now,” he said.
